MASTERY IN THE TRADE

• Trade or industrial arts teaching is effective as long as


the shop teacher is a master of his trade and
professionally trained to teach such trade.
• Mastery here means that the shop teacher has acquired
to necessary technical skills and job intelligence or
knowledge which will enable him to solve the most
intricate problems of the trade.
TRADE AND JOB ANALYSIS DETERMINES
WHAT TO TEACH
• Trade teaching will be more effective ifthe content or
elements of the trade have been analyzed, listed and
arranged in their proper instructional order.
• These elements (operations and related information)
becomes the teaching contents of the trade.
SELF-PREPARED TEACHING GUIDES

• To attain competency in teaching the shop teacher should prepare


his own course study or course outline, analysis cards, lesson
plans, work books and other teaching guides.
• A shop teacher who writes his own teaching guides will indirectly
help him retain his knowledge of the trade more permanently in his
mind.
• He can organize his thoughts better and recollect essential related
information faster.
KNOWLEDGE OF CHILD AND ADOLESCENT
PSYCHOLOGY IS NECESSARY

• Teaching will be more effective if


the industrial arts and
trade teacher understand child psychology and
adolescent psychology, respectively.
• Understanding the children’s or student’s behavior at
various age level will help the teacher adjust his
methods and techniques of teachings to the needs and
intelligence of the learners.
UPDATING TRADE OR INDUSTRIAL ARTS
TEACHING
• Trade or industrial arts teaching is said to be update
when the shop teacher is always abreast with the rapid
technological developments and is professionally
growing in the trade.
• A teacher who is teaching old processes or who is using
obsolete tools and machines is lagging behind his trade,
especially when there are many new skills and
techniques to develop and there are better and newer
tools.
GOOD CONDITIONS OF TOOLS AND
EQUIPMENT
• Trade and industrial arts teaching is effective in
proportion as the tools and machines are in good
working conditions.This is specially true with those
used in demonstration teachings.
• They should not only be in good conditions but also be
similar to, if not the same with the tools and equipment
to be used by the students in their work.
COMPLETE TEACHING FACILITIES
AND MATERIALS
• materials are defined as resources that organize and support
instruction, such as textbooks, tasks, and supplementary
resources.
• It refers to the human and non-human materials and facilities that
can be used to ease, encourage, improve and promote teaching and
learning activities.
• it is used to improve students’ knowledge, abilities, and skills, to
monitor their assimilation of information, and to contribute to their
overall development and upbringing.
SHOP ENVIRONMENT MUST BE
CONDUCIVE TO TEACHING AND LEARNING

• Effective teachers look for every available opportunity to


increase student learning.To create a classroom
environment conducive to learning, you must first focus on
the physical space. Use every possible area of the room to
create an atmosphere that encourages participation and
learning
DAILY PREPARATION OF THE LESSON

• Actively involve students in the learning process.


• Use various media to explain lesson concepts.
• Keep the lesson flowing from one concept to the next.
• Keep the lesson content meaningful.
• Give opportunities for the students to give feedback and
practice the new concept
SPECIFIC LESSON OBJECTIVES

• Clearly stated learning objectives provide a basis for


selecting appropriate materials and instructional
strategies. They can ensure that a classroom teacher
does not use materials or strategies simply because
they are readily available or familiar. To be useful, a
learning objective must be explicit and assessable
