selecting a camping site and pitching a
tent?
In groups come up with a list of
considerations when thinking about
this idea. 5 minutes before sharing
ideas as a class.

Haven't practiced setting tent up prior to camping Not checking site over

Cooking in tent
Being too or not close enough to water

Not stalking your tent correctly or not having appropriate pegs Trying to pitch the tent on your own

(wind exposure, sun exposure, hills, valleys)

Location - Not finding good ground - (level ground and not in a hollow or valleys)

Not taking sensible precautions by removing food from your tent

In table groups make a list of items

● 8 pegs + peg bag
● 1 pole + pole bag
● 1 outer blue shell Open your tent bag and separate the items and check off what
you got right and write down what you were missing.
● 1 inner back /grey shell
● 1 pole repair sleeve
● 1 back-up zip
● main tent bag
Pitching Tent
- We will be heading into the gym shortly
- You will be taking your tent bag with you
- Get into two groups of four and one group of three
- Wait for instructions of what to do when you are in the gym
If you were camping and one item from you tent bag
was either missing or broken which item would you
want it to be and why / how could you overcome the
issue?
