Data Transcription for Swiggy

ABOUT THE COMPANY

SWIGGY is a food ordering and delivery company based out of Bangalore, India. It was
inspired by the thought of providing a complete food ordering and delivery solution from the
best neighborhood restaurants to the urban foodie. A single window for ordering from a
wide range of restaurants, they have their own exhand deliver it to customers. Having an
own fleet gives them the flexibility to offer customers a no minimum order policy on any
restaurant and accept online payments for all partner restaurants that we work with.
 Purpose of the Internship
Swiggy earns its revenue by charging a commision on the items ordered through its
platform. for e.g let's consider the commision percentage charged by Swiggy is 20
percent and the item price is 100 then the amount earned by swiggy is 20 INR .
In the current scenario Swiggy is losing out on this revenue as the restaurants have
updated their menus and have not informed swiggy about the same.
for e.g. let’s consider that the hotel has increased the price of an item from 100 to 120,
if swiggy would have been informed about the same then their commission would have
been 120x.20=24 INR so Swiggy is losing its revenue share. To counter this swiggy
has started mystery audits where they collect the images of the menus being used in
the restaurant currently and match it with the one submitted on swiggy. Menu
transcription is a part of this activity where in we are transcribing the menu collected by
them.
 ROLE
1) You will be getting the images of Restaurant Menu’s in the Awign app as
leads.
2) You have to do the complete transcription of such menus in the Awign app in a
given timeline.
 METHODOLOGY:
1. Find the allocated leads in the Awign app/web version inside your “Data Transcription
Swiggy” Internship.
2. In a restaurant, there can be 3 different types of menu.
A) Dine in Menu- Given to the customers who eat inside the restaurant
B) Take away Menu- Used by the customers taking their food but not dining in the restaurant.
C) Online menu.
3. In your lead, check which Menu to transcribe & you will find which lead to transcribe under
the section “Menu to Transcribe”.
If it is given that you should be transcribing Dine in Menu, you will open Images of “Dine
in Menu” and transcribe ALL the menu Items there.
Steps of using Awign App for Menu Transcription
 USING THE AWIGN APP:

Rules to be followed while transcribing
1. Enter the Main Category and Sub Category for each item Name
2. First letter of each word will be capital Ex Chicken Tandoori
3. There will be no variation on quantity or size everything will be considered as a separate item for example
Say Chicken Tandoori Half 120
Chicken Tandoori Full 240
4. Addon will be listed in the item Name column itself after all the items are listed.
5. If the price is not mentioned write Not Mentioned
6. In the price column enter the price of each item you need to mention only numbers.
7. No need to transcribe the descriptions available
8. If the Items are separated by “/” you are going to treat them as different items itself.
for example: Fried rice/Noodle 180 will be transcribed as Fried rice 180 as one item and Noodles 180 as second
item.
 ASPECTS TO ENSURE
1. Price should be Number only. If no price is written in the menu or MRP,as per size etc are written
in the menu in place of price then write 0 in the price.
Correct: 90
Incorrect: INR 90 or …90..

2. If 2 prices are given for 1 item, it should be written in a different row.

E.g. If there are 2 prices given for a Burger i.e. With Cheese and Without cheese. You have to write
that in a different row and mention “ With cheese/Without cheese”.

3. If any item quantity is mentioned in the row or item name do not write the numeric value, write it
in a alphabetic manner.
eg: Item name: Idly 2 pcs or Vanilla Ice cream 500 gm
Correct Transcription: Idly two pcs or Vanilla Ice cream five hundred gm.
Incorrect Trnascription: Idly 2 pcs or Vanilla Ice cream 500 gm.
 ASPECTS TO ENSURE
4. If there is a subcategory, you have to mention it in the “Category Name” row.
e.g. if the category name is – Starters and Subcategory name is – Veg/Non veg
a) Category 1 will become – Starters Veg
b) Category 2 will become – Starters Non veg

5. If the images of a lead are unclear more than 30% then only change the status “Unoperational”.To
add new entries click on “+” in the app & “add more” in the workboard. Click on SAVE after a
complete entry has been made & click on SUBMIT only after completing the entire menu.

6.For combo items write “plus” while transcribing the items.

eg: Combo : Burger+Fries+Coke ; Transcription: Category name : Combo
Item name:Burger plus Fries plus Coke
