CHAPTER Background of the
1 Study

Anxiety is defined as a state of uneasiness and


apprehension or fear caused by the anticipation
of something threatening.
In terms of anxiety, one of the most commonly
reported social fear is the fear of Public
Speaking. Public speaking anxiety, also known
as glossophobia
Having the courage to face your anxiety in
reporting or public speaking is confronting your
fear with bravery and confidence. Delivering

will then be collected and will
be analyzed to get the result.

in terms of:

• 1.2 Gender:
• 2.What are the effects of anxiety in a students performance?
• 3. To what extent does there exist a fear of public speaking
among the BSIT freshmen?
• 4.What are the things that are set aside when trying to conquer
anxiety?
CHAPTER Significance of the
1 study

This study is significant to the students, media practitioners, societies, and


future researchers.

To the students, This would help them realize what are the things that causes
huge stress and and how it should be handled.

To the media practitioners, this study will inform them on how anxiety in public
speaking can affect one's capability and would hinder them into showcasing
their full potential.

To the society, this study aims to shape the students ability in order to be a
beneficial product of a society.
CHAPTER Scope and
1 Delimitation

The aim of this study is to identify the extent of efforts


the BSIT 1st year students do in order to overcome their
fear in public speaking. It involves the participation of at
least 20 students from every section of the course BSIT.
The participants are from the Technological University of
the Philippines within the Academic Year 2018-2019. This
research is limited for the said respondents only.
