CUPPING THERAPY

PRACTICAL USE OF CUPPING

AUTHOR KIRAN PHALKE
HISTORY OF CUPPING
• Cupping has been used for very long time
in the history of the world and especially in
India and china. Indian Ayurvedic used
various types of suction instruments like
the red pumpkin, white dudhi, the horn of
animals etc depending on the diseased
process.
• The Chinese used bamboo glasses,
medical cupping. When there was an
invention of glass they also used glass jars
of various shapes and sizes. Vacuum was
applied by heating the jars from inside and
then quickly applying the cups in required
place.
Applications
• The chemicals used in the pools that
these althletes train and compete in is
very toxic. Cupping draws these toxins
out of the body which would otherwise
lead to stagnation, blood poison, pain
and disfunction. These althletes turn to
cupping on a regular basis to detoxify
and enhance their performance.
Principle behind cupping
• When qi stops moving due to any reason
in any part of the body the blood also
moves slowly. Then due to the stagnation
of both the qi and blood there is pain or
dysfunction of the meridian or organ
connected with it. When it becomes
chronic then it becomes difficult to treat
the disease. When we apply cupping the
stagnation of qi is removed and the blood
moves.This cures the disease.
