Problems
1.Acne
• As hormone levels rise and bodies change, skin reacts.
• For some teen, it’s an occasional spot or blemish.
• For girls, it can occur right before each menstrual cycle.
• It is characterized by whiteheads, blackheads and more
frequently, pus filled spots.
• It usually develops in the central area of the cheeks and on the
forehead and is almost universally caused by hormone
imbalance
2. Oily Skin

• Oily skin and acne often go hand-in-hand.

Some teenagers just suffer from oily skin and


does not have acne at all.
3. Athletes Foot

• This is an infection of the feet with a dermatophyte


fungus; these thrive in warm, moist environments.
• The fungal infection which is usually mild, occurs
most commonly in young men.
• Symptoms of athletes foot are spongy, irritated or
peeling skin.
4.Cold sores

• These are facial lesions of blisters, commonly present


around the lips and mouth caused by infection with
the type 1 herpes simplex virus.

• The virus is transmitted through direct contact with


the saliva of an infected individual and is far more
likely to occur through active lesions.
5. Dry Skin

• Skin which flakes, peels, or cracks may be the result


of insufficient moisture.

• Causes include: specific medical conditions,


excessive washing.
6. Eczema

• This is a range of conditions which involve skin


inflammation, the most common of these being atopic
dermatitis.

• Atopic Dermatitis is characterized by an itchy, red


rash which most commonly appears on the face and
scalp.
7. Ringworm

• This is an itchy fungal infection of the skin which


appear as scaly rings a couple of centimeters wide.

• Ringworm is contagious and is passed between


contact with infected people, pets and personal items.
8. Sunburn

• One of the most common skin complains of teenagers


and something most people will experience during
their teenage years.

• It is the result of excessive exposure of unprotected


skin to ultraviolet light either from the sun.
Do’s
 Do remove make-up at night
 Do clean our skin gently with a mild, non
drying soap
 Do remove all dirt or make-up and wash
once or twice a day, including after
exercising
 Do shampoo your hair daily, especially if it
is oily, comb or pull your hair back to keep
the hair out of your face
Don’ts

 Don’t scrub or wash your skin repeatedly


 Don’t touch your face with your hands or
fingers
 Don’t wear tight headbands and caps
 Don’t use greasy cosmetics or creams.
