Definition Of Interpreter
Interpreter is a person that
translates from one language to
another, so that people who
speak different languages can
communicate.
The role of Interpreter

• CULTURAL BROKER or
CULTURAL INTERFACE
• ADVOCATE
CONDUIT
In this role, the interpreter
acts as a means for what is
said by one party to reach the
other.
CLARIFIER
There are times when a term
or phrase is not heard or
understood.
CULTURAL BROKER or CULTURAL
INTERFACE

Taking on this role implies having


knowledge on the particular
cultural beliefs of the individuals
you are interpreting for.
ADVOCATE
In this role, the interpreter goes
beyond being the patient’s
voice. Here the interpreter
ACTS on certain issues that
he/she feels are necessary for
the patient to get the
appropriate care he needs.
