ACTIVITY 1: PANDEMIC

1
1ST PERSPECTIVE
One perspective that I want to highlight is how the pandemic has stopped many people from going to
church on Sunday. Before COVID-19 the church would be full of many people attending and no one
wearing a mask. Now when they first announced the lockdown there was not church for many weeks until
they could get it started through a live video. Me and my family would watch the video and follow along,
but when churches reopened there weren’t as many people as there used to be. People sit far apart from
one another and each bench is one yes one no. So that way people still stay six feet apart while wearing
masks.

2nd Perspective

My second perspective that I would like to

highlight is dining. Before the pandemic
people would go to a restaurant and just eat
normally and pick their food from a paper
menu. Now tables are far away from each
other, and in some areas, they have plastic
coverings to separate people. When you get
to your table you have to scan a barcode to
see your menu. And waiters would wear
masks to serve you. In some restaurants they
don’t allow you to eat inside and it is only
carryout, and in others the tables are outside
and not inside. They also check your
temperature at the entrance.

HOW HAS DAY TO DAY
LIFE CHANGED?
How has day to day life changed well that’s a
tough question, because for everybody it
changed in a different way. For me it has
changed the most in the education area.
Before the pandemic I was able to go too
school and see my classmates and teachers.
I would receive textbooks, and a locker. Now
I don’t go to school because everything is
virtual. I must have a stable Wi-Fi
connection just to be in class. I receive no
textbooks, because everything is on an
online platform, we use called its learning. I
don’t get to see my teachers in person or
see my friends. I miss going to school and
learning in person. Also our classes used to
be 1hr and 30 min now there just 1hr, and
that cuts from the time we get to learn. Now
we do school in my dad’s office, and we
never used to do that.

HOW HAS IT IMPACTED THE PRESENT?
I know that I am not able to vote yet but COVID-19 has impacted the present in a huge way one being the
2020 elections. Before the pandemic started in the 2016 elections people were able to go in person to an
area were you could vote electronically. Now many people fear going outside and getting sick, so they send
their mail in ballots. Mail in ballots have a big problem because people can forge their signatures, and
many other things could go wrong. This year there is a big controversy on whether the elections were fair.
People would not be thinking this way if it weren’t for the pandemic.

How has it impacted
the future?
The year 2020 is certainly a year to be
remembered and many people think so
including me. This year was supposed to be
great, but instead it was terrible. It started off
fine but then we got word of the lockdown aka:
the pandemic was getting out of control. This
pandemic changed the way things occurred this
year we cannot travel, go anywhere without a
mask, or have contact with others in person.
When we first heard about the lockdown my
dad had to close his orthodontic office for three
months and we had to stay home all the time.
We also had to be cautious with the amount of
toilet paper we used because there were very
little left in stores. Everywhere you went they
checked your temperature. This year is certainly
one for the books.
