Aims of this Module

• To equip you with English Language and


Communication Skills required to cope with
academic demand of degree level study in IT
and Business;
• To provide you with the fundamentals of
communication skills;
• To enable you to conduct research, draft and
write for academic purposes and business
correspondence.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this module, you should be able to:-


• access information, plan/structure & write for academic
purposes, using appropriate tone and style;
• identify and construct a basic model of the communication
process
• classify communication barriers
• differentiate different media of communication use in an
organisational setting
• communicate with people from both inside and outside
the organisation in a formal setting
• analyse the audience for each communication task, and
tailor communication for the particular audience
