information or data , to provide
programs and services that inform
, educate , enlighten , and enrich
the public and help inform civil
discourse essential to society.
Media are means of transmitting
information , which is important for a
democracy in which citizens must
make their own informed decisions.
Media can influence politics by what
they say , but also by what they don’t
say.
Media is suppose to be unbiased ,
informative and educate people of the
truth.

the traditional or “old fashioned”

and comics or graphic novels.

from the world “tele”(greek for far
away) and “vision”(sight)
3.Movies – (films) are the oldest form
of motion picture technology capable of
capturing lifelike video –style images.
4. Video games – majority of the
video games are specially
designed for entertaining
people. However, the purpose of
video games widely varies with
the nature of information itself
to inform ,persuade or stimulate.

for a society in which the

manipulation of information

significant economic and
cultural activity.
An information society
may be contrasted with
societies in which the
economic underpinning is
primarily industrial or
agrarian.
The Machine tools of the
information society are
computers and
telecommunications ,
rather than lathes or
ploughs.

2. GLOBALIZATION AND CULTURAL GAP-
by implementing information
systems we can bring down the
linguistic, geographical and some
cultural boundaries.
3. AVAILABILITY- information systems
has made it possible for businesses
to be open 24x7 all over the globe.
4. CREATION OF NEW TYPES OF JOBS –
one of the best advantages of
information is the creation of new and
interesting jobs.
5. COST EFFECTIVENESS AND
PRODUCTIVITY – promotes more
efficient operation of the company and
also improves the supply of information
to decision-makers.
DISADVANTAGES
1. UNEMPLOYMENT AND LACK OF JOB
SECURITY – implementing information
through media can save a great deal of time
during the completion of tasks and some
labor mechanic works.
2. DOMINANT CULTURE – it has also
contributed to one culture dominating
another weaker one.
3. SECURITY ISSUES – thieves and
hackers get access to identities and
corporate saboteurs target sensitive
company data.
4. IMPEMENTATION EXPENSES – to
integrate the information through
media it require pretty good amount of
cost in a case of software, hardware and
people.
