QUALITATIVE ANALYSIS

PURPOSE OF QUALITATIVE ANALYSIS

 Qualitative analysis aims to increase the overall understanding of


the quality, characteristics and meanings of the researched object
or topic.
 Qualitative analysis was used to examine the interview transcripts
and derive fundamental categories that summarized the
underlying thematic structure.
CATEGORIES OF APPROACHES

• 1.REFLECTION-aimed at gaining an insight into


the thinking processes and opinions of the test
taker
• 2.VERBAL REPORTS- offers an insight inyo the thought processes of informants

• Number of varieties:
• 1. talk aloud 5. mediated
• 2.think aloud 6. non-mediated
• 3. concurrent
• 4. retrospective

TYPES OF QUALITATIVE ANALYSIS
1. CONVERSATION ANALYSIS (CA)

The assumption is that every


interaction is contextual and has a
stable and predictable nature.
2. DISCOURSE ANALYSIS (DA)

The analysis of “text and talk” as


social practices.
3. TEXT LANGUAGE ANALYSIS
