SELF COMPACTING CONCRETE

USING BAGASSE ASH

Introduction

Self compacting concrete (SSC)

Highly workable concrete that can flow
through densely reinforced or geometrically
complex structural elements under its own
weight to adequately fill the voids without
segregation or excessive bleeding and without
vibration.
Continued

Components:
• Cement. Ordinary Portland cement  43
grade cement can be used.
• Aggregates. The size of the aggregates used
for SCC design is limited to 20mm
• Water
• Mineral Admixtures
• Chemical Admixtures
Continued

Advantages:
• Higher fluidity without segregation
• Self compacting
• Eliminates the need of vibration either external
or internal without compromising its
engineering properties .

• Sugarcane bagasse ash (SCBA)

– Residue obtained from the burning
of bagasse in the sugar industry.

• Advantages of sugarcane bagasse ash

– Reduces land pollution
– Reduces the cost of construction as it can be
used in partial replacement of cement.

Use of Baggasse Ash in Concrete

• Use of sugarcane bagasse ash (SCBA) as

cement substitute material to get improved
quality and decrease the cost of house
equipment such as mortar, concrete roof tiles
and soil cement interlock wedge.
Continued

• SCBA in concrete by partial substitute of

cement at the ratio of 0%, 5%, 10% and 15% by
weight.
• The new study examines the compressive
strength, split tensile strength, flexural strength.
• Concrete specimen is casted and subsequently
all test specimens be cure in water at 3, 7, 14,
21 and 28 Days .
