• Problem/Question
• What would you think of this?
• Which one boils faster? Fresh
water or sea water?
Do you have any observations?

• Observation
• (Facts)
• I think water with out water boils in a longer
period.
• Water with salt boils in shorter period.
• I think water and sea water boils at the same
period.
Hypothesis
• Water with salt has a shorter boiling point
while water with out salt has longer
boiling point.
• Water with salt heats faster than pure water
Experimentation
• Materials
• Sea water(water and salt)
• Fresh water
• Beaker
• Lamp
• Lighter
• Measuring spoon
Procedure
a. Measure 1 cup of fresh water and place in a beaker.
b. Measure 1 cup of sea water(water added with 1 table spoon
salt and place in another beaker.
c. Place the beaker with fresh water to the lighted lamp and wait
until it starts to boil. Record the time from the start of
heating and the time when it starts to boil.
d. Place also the beaker with sea water to the lighted lamp and
observe until it starts to boil. Record the starting time from
the start of heating and the time when the water starts to boil.
Analyze the result
Material Time Total
Heating Time Start of boil Time of Boiling
Fresh Water 2:00 2:10 10 min.
Sea Water 2:10 2:15 5 min.
Conclusion
• Water with salt (Sea water) heats faster than fresh water(pure
water)
