WHAT IS SIMILARITY?

APPERCEPTION In Geometry, Figures (two planes or more) are called

similar that have the same shape but different sizes,
that are :
a. The corresponding angles are equal and,
b. All the length comparisons of the corresponding
sides are equal
Similarity is symbolized by symbol " ~ ".
○ EXAMPLE 6

APPERCEPTION

According to the definition, it can be concluded that the quadrilateral
is similarity with the quadrilateral dan and can be written with the
quadrilateral .
.
For more specific, There are 3 condition that two triangles are 7
said to be similar as follows :
1. All the length comparisons of the corresponding sides are
equal (Side-Side-Side) or
All the corresponding angles have equal size (Angle-

CONGRUENCE
11

Look at the pictures above ! There are : a  j dg

Which of the pictures is the exactly same? bi eh
cf
The pictures that looks exactly same is congruent
Are the twins below congruent? 12

So, figures can be said to be congruent if they look exactly the

same without having differences in both shape and size

WHAT IS CONGRUENCE?
In Geometry, Figures (two planes or more) are called congruent
that have the same shape and sizes, that are :
a. The corresponding angles are equal and,
b. The corresponding sides are equal
Congruence is symbolized by symbol " ≅".
The correspondence of two congruent
planes was not influenced by the second
position of the planes. So once a one-to-one
correspondence is found between the two
planes, then all position remains congruent.

THE DIFFERENCENCE OF
CONGRUENCE AND SIMILARITY

The terms of two plane are called congruent are:
a. The corresponding angles are equal and,
b. The corresponding sides are equal
The terms of two plane are called similar are:
a. The corresponding angles are equal and,
b. All the length comparisons of the corresponding
sides are equal
Congruent planes can also be said to be
similar with all the lenght comparisons of
the corresponding sides are 1

ALL CONGRUENT PLANES ARE

CERTAINLY SIMILAR,
BUT IF SIMILAR IS NOT NECESSARILY
CONGRUENT.
