HYPERLO

OP
THE ADVANCED MODE OF TRANSPORTATION

WHAT IS HYPERLOOP?

• Hyperloop is described as a sealed tube or system of tubes with

low air pressure through which a pod may travel substantially free
of air resistance or friction
HISTOR
Y
• The idea of transmitting people or goods through sealed
tubes was introduced in late 17the century itself.
• The vactrain concept was first proposed by
Robert H. Goddard in 1904.
• Elon Musk first publicly mentioned the Hyperloop in 2012

of the transportation
WHAT MAKES IT
DIFFERENT?

• There are two big differences between Hyperloop and traditional rail. Firstly,
the pods carrying passengers travel through tubes or tunnels from which
most of the air has been removed to reduce friction. This should
allow the pods to travel at up to 750 miles per hour.
• Secondly, rather than using wheels like a train or car, the pods are designed
to float on air skis, using the same basic idea as an air hockey table, or use
magnetic levitation to reduce friction.
MAIN PARTS OF
HYPERLOOP
• Capsule
• Low pressure tube
• Electro Magnetic Launch system
• Bearing system
• Compressors
CAPSUL
E:
• It travels along the tube and is cushioned by air between the tube.
• Its also a housing for compressors and batteries.
• It carries in about 8 passengers at a time.
LOW PRESSURE
TUBE:

• Tube is one of the main components

of hyperloop system which is made of steel
• Two tubes are welded together side by side or
up and down to allow the capsules travel in
both directions.
• Pylons are placed for every 30 meters to
support the tubes
ELECTRO MAGNETIC LAUNCH
SYSTEM:
• It accelerates the capsule to a very high
velocity using linear induction motors.
• It is responsible for driving the capsule to a
sub sonic speed.
• In simple words, it acts as an accelerator of
the Hyperloop.
BEARING SYSTEM:
Air Bearing System
• Air bearings are devices that hold gas-usually air-under pressure, and release
it through openings or slots in order to create a gap/cushion of air that
‘levitates’ the bearing and whatever weight rests on it
Magnetic Levitation bearing system
• There are two main types of maglev
technology – electromagnetic suspension
(EMS) and electrodynamic suspension
(EDS).
• EMS uses electronically controlled
electromagnets in the train to attract it to a
magnetic steel track.
• EDS uses superconducting electromagnets
on both the train and the rail to produce a
mutually repellent force that makes the
carriages levitate.
COMPRESSOR:
• The axial compressor powered by a powerful electric motor is placed in front of the capsule.
• It sucks the air and reduces the air pressure in front of the capsule as a result air resistance
will be decreased.
HOW DOES A HYPERLOOP TUBE WORK?
• In Musk's model, the pressure of the air inside the Hyperloop tube is about
one-sixth the pressure of the atmosphere on Mars.
• This means an operating pressure of 100 pascals, which reduces the drag
force of the air by 1,000 times relative to sea level conditions, and would be
equivalent to flying above 150,000 feet.
HOW DO A HYPERLOOP CAPSULE WORK?
• The Hyperloop capsules in Musk's model float above the tube's surface on a
set of 28 air-bearing skies. Other versions of Hyperloop use magnetic
levitation rather than air skis to keep the passenger pods above the tracks.
• The pod would get its initial velocity from an external linear electric motor,
which would accelerate it to 'high subsonic velocity' and then give it a boost
every 70 miles or so; in between, the pod would coast along in near vacuum.
HOW WOULD HYPERLOOP BE POWERED?
• The pods will get their velocity from an external linear electric motor --
effectively a round induction motor rolled flat.
• Under Musk's model, the Hyperloop would be powered by solar panels
placed on the top of the tube which would allow the system to generate more
energy than it needs to run.

ADVANTAGES DISADVANTAGES
The technology offers very fast speed of High speed of capsule may cause dizziness to

jostling.

It has very low power consumption. Initial cost of investment to have the system in
place is very high.

It is low cost transportation system on long The long vacuum chamber manufacturing

is costly and also risky to maintain.
It is immune to bad weather conditions. It has limited space in the train and hence
people can not move freely.

• The humanity has to take all the scenarios into the account and create a
sustainable technology that not only helps us but also protects Mother Nature.
• So I here by conclude that we must sedulously work to attain a better version oh
