Difference between

breathing and
respiration
By Kivindi Amaya
The difference between Breathing and Cellular
Respiration
breathing is the biological process of inhaling and exhaling of the gases
between the cells and the environment. ... Respiration is a chemical process
that takes place in the cell.

Breathing and respiration are two completely different but interrelated

body processes which assist body organs to function properly. Breathing is
the physical process of exchanging gases whilst respiration is a chemical
process which takes place at a cellular level and produces energy.
This is a table to show the difference between
breathing and respiration
BREATHING
• Breathing is the process of moving air out and in the lungs to
facilitate gas exchange with the internal environment, mostly to
flush out carbon dioxide and bring in oxygen.
This is how respiration happens.

Glucose + oxygen carbon dioxide + water

C6H12O6 + O2 Co2 + H2o
