Perimeter

and
Circumference
Perimeter
• The distance around a polygon

• The sum of the measure of the sides of a

polygon.
Perimeter of a Triangle
• The sum of the measure of the length of the 3
sides of the triangle namely as side a, b, and c.

P=a+b+c
A flag cloth has a side of 9 cm, 10 cm,
and 13 cm. Find the perimeter of the
c= 11cm
flag cloth.
a= 9 cm

Formula: P= a + b + c
b= 10 cm

P= 9cm + 10 cm + 13cm
P= 35 cm
Perimeter of a Rectangle
• The sum all the two length and two width of the
rectangle.

P= 2l + 2w

wherein, Length
l is the length and
w is the width. Width Width

Length
1.3 m

A school quadrangle has a length of

0.9 m 1.3 m and a width of 0.9 m. Find the
perimeter of the school quadrangle.

Formula: P= 2l + 2w

P = 2 (1.3 m) + 2(0.9 m)
P = 2.6 m + 1.8 m
P = 4.4 m
Perimeter of a Square
• The sum of the four sides of the square.

P = 4s

Wherein, s is the side of the square.

A handkerchief has a side
measure as 38.42 cm.
Find the perimeter of the
handkerchief.
38.42 cm

Formula: P= 4s

P= 4(38.42 cm)
P= 153.68 cm
Circumference
• The distance around a circle.

Circumference of a Circle
• Expressed in terms of (pi) which is approximately equal to 3.1416.

If the diameter is given,

C= d

if the radius is given,

C= 2d
The diameter of a coin is
1.8 cm
about 1.8 cm. Find the
circumference of the coin.

Formula: C= d

C= (3.1416)(1.8 cm)
C= 5.65488 cm
