Spool Test
Spool Testing:
Well no.: HZH (5000psi)

Procedure:

1 ●
Final cut of 4¼ʺ is given to 5½ʺ casing.

2 ●
Primary seal and ring gasket is placed.

3 Tubing spool is placed and studs are

Space between primary

● tightened.
and

4 secondary seal is pressurised

up to 80% (4000psi) of rated
capacity.
Casing Integrity Test (Hermetical Test):
Casing integrity test refers to closed cycle pressure
testing of casing.
It is carried out by pumping fluid to detect leakage in
production casing.
Well no.:HZH (5000 psi)
Procedure:
1 ●
Line testing is done at a pressure of 3500 psi.

2 ●
Topped up the annulus of 9 ⅝ʺ and 5½ʺ casing and tubing.

3 ●
Pressurised the 5½ʺ casing up to 3000 psi.

4

No displacement is observed in the annulus
and no pressure drop is detected in the
recorder chart .Test completed successfully.
WELL KILLING:

It is an operation to place a column of fluid inside the

well bore which has a hydrostatic head equal to or
greater than the formation pressure to prevent any
inflow to the well bore.

NEED FOR KILLING:

 For the work over of the well if the well falls sick.
 On safety consideration , due to damage of well head
by miscreants.
 For abandonment of the well.
 For any other well intervention involving work over.
WELL KILLING

BULL Pumping the kill fluid directly down the wellbore

HEADING forcing the well bore fluids back into the reservoir.

FORWARD Kill fluid is pumped into the production tubing and

CIRCULATION circulating out through the annulus.

REVERSE Pumping the kill fluid down the annulus of the well and
CIRCULATION circulating out through tubing.

LUBRICATION Kill fluid pumped into well bore in small quantities

AND BLEED after some time migrated fluids bleed from tubing.

SITP = 2400 psi SICP = 400psi

Kill Fluid –70 pcf NaCl solution
Steps:
1. The kill line was hydraulically pressure tested at 3000psi.
2. Tried to bleed tubing and casing pressure to zero but was unsuccessful.
3. Started pumping operation by pumping water(18 bbls) and take return to
attank via steam jacket.
4. Then kill fluid was pumped through casing (reverse circulation) @1000 psi.
5. After pumping 208 bbls (190+18), same weight solution was found to return.
6. Tubing and casing pressure down to zero after pumping was stopped.
7. Well was observed for half an hour & found no displacement.

Coiled Tubing Unit

A well servicing unit comprising of a continuously spooled high fatigue

strength steel tubing that is spooled onto a reel and can be injected or

Artificial Lift

 Artificial lift is a technique used to bring oil from the reservoir to the surface
because of decreasing reservoir pressure.

 In order to be able to produce the fluids to surface, energy must be

introduced or transported downhole to the fluids, to help lift them to the
surface and overcome the flowline pressure.
