 METHODS OF DETAILED ESTIMATES

Work Break Down / Bottom Up Method

Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) is developed

during the planning stage of the project
Estimates are created for all tasks at the lowest level
of the WBS
These are accumulated to determine the estimates
for the whole project.
Bottom-up method is considered to be the most
accurate method for generating project estimates.
Determines budget or definitive estimates during the
planning phase and at the project start stage

The cost of each item of work is worked out from
the quantities that already computed in the details
measurement form at workable rate.
The total cost is worked out in the prescribed form
is known as abstract of estimated form.
10-15%of estimated Cost is allowed for Petty
Supervision, contingencies and Unforeseen items

Abstract Estimate

An Abstract summary of all estimates based on

WBS is prepared for generating final project
estimates.
Cost of each item of work is calculated from the
quantities that already computed in the detailed
measurement form at workable/published rate.
Total cost is worked out in a prescribed form known
as abstract of estimated form.
10-15%of estimated Cost is allowed for Petty
Supervision, contingencies and Unforeseen items
