• Came from the Latin word 'Communicare' which means 'to share'

• Communication refers to two way process of conveying information, ideas,


feelings or opinion between two or more persons either verbally and non-
verbally using a medium.

ELEMENTS OF COMMUNICATION
PROCESS:
• Sender
the person who intend to convey the message with the intention of
passing information and ideas to others. 
• Decoding
The person who receives the message from the communicator tries to
convert the same in such a way so that he may extract its meaning to
his complete understanding.
• ENCODING
- Transformation of an idea into a message. 
- The process of turning thoughts into communication. 
- Its further passing requires use of certain symbols such as words,

actions, or pictures.
• Feedback
It is the response the receiver gives to the sender after the
element of effect. It can be negative or positive depending on
how the message is encoded and decoded by the sender and
receiver respectively. 
• Message
 It s a short communication or the content sent from one person
to another or the central theme or idea of a communication.

• Media
 It is the medium, passage through or which encoded
message is passed by the sender to the receiver.

• Response
He is the person to whom the message has been sent. For example,
subordinates are receivers

• Receiver 
It is the person who gets the message and tries to understand what
the sender actually wants to convey and then responds accordingly.
This is also called as decoding

• Channel
The channel or medium used to communicate a message affects how
the audience will receive the message.
