HOW I SURVIVED THE
CHALLENGES OF
STUDYING IN THE NEW
NORMAL
Like in many countries, in the fight against COVID-19, schools in Philippines
have closed and learning is taking place online. The amount of
content, online assessment, much of it without adequate instructions, are
just some of the problems that young people face in this new learning
environment.
Today, online learning is no longer a luxury, but rather a need. Because of the
COVID-19 epidemic, staying indoors in groups has become a major issue,
necessitating social distance and mandatory quarantine across the planet. As
a result, distant learning is becoming more popular than ever, and it is being
implemented in all institutions.
Distance learning takes a unique place among the various methods of
obtaining information. It offers a lot of benefits and is a great
alternative to traditional teaching, but it also has several flaws that
might undermine the entire concept’s effectiveness
PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS WITH
ONLINE LEARNING
1. Adapting To The Format Is
Difficult
The learning experience is
entirely different when a
learners switch from regular
classroom to an online model.
These modifications may be
tough for students who have
traditional perspective.
2. Lack Of Computer
Knowledge
Students who do not learn age-
appropriate computer skills
such as typing, online research,
and discerning internet usage
can fall behind in their classes
and struggle to maintain their
grades.
3. Technical Problems
In online learning, technical
conscerns are frequently a
stumbling hurdle. As a result,
students get frustrated and
disengaged from the learning
process.
4. Lack of Time Management
Failure to adequately manage
time can results to major
curriculum slippage and a great
deal of stress. In short,
students who have lack of
knowledge in managing time
may likely face trouble.
5. Distractions
Digitally distracted students
may cut study sessions short
and neglect assignments. They
take longer to complete tasks
because their focus is
fragmented. Top distractions
for students include social
media, texting, television, and
family, which can pull one’s
attention away from the task at
hand and diminish productivity.
6. Lack of Self Motivation
If students aren’t motivated, it
is difficult, if not impossible, to
improve their academic
achieve- ment, no matter how
good the teacher, curriculum
or school is. Moreover,
unmotivated students can
disengage other students from
academics, which can affect
the environment of an entire
classroom or school.
Those are the six common problems that I’ve face on online
learning but I managed to survived. Overall, taking an online
class is a huge responsibility we just need to be determined,
and focused because I believed that focusing on our
objectives can help us remain track and achieve our goals.
