ABSTRACT
• Water purification is the process of removing undesirable chemicals, biological
contaminants, suspended solids and gases from water. The goal is to produce
water fit for a specific purpose. Most water is disinfected for human consumption,
but water purification may also be designed for a variety of other purposes,
including fulfilling the requirements of medical, pharmacological, chemical and
industrial applications.
• In this project to design a water purification system with hot and normal water
dispenser for the villages of India. Village residents suffer from water related illness
due to poor drinking water quality. The system utilizes primary and secondary filter
with chlorination process to effectively filter and sterilize contaminated well water
as it is pumped to the village reservoir. The goal of the project was to meet the
needs of the village and provide a long term water treatment solution.
INTRODUCTION
• The public water supply can become contaminated while in transit even though
tremendous effort is placed in the treatment and conditioning of water at public
water facilities run by municipal authorities. Public water systems can carry germs
and hazardous parasites before the distribution to residential homes in urban areas;
this is the main challenge faced by water treatment facilities. Water borne diseases
caused by protozoan water bacteria causes more sicknesses or serious illnesses than
any other form of bacterial based pollutant.
What Is Water Purification
• Water purifiers are a convenient way of filtering any biological contaminants,
unwanted chemicals, suspended solids or gases from contaminated water. This may
be useful in many different experiments in a variety of chemistry, biology or
physics disciplines.
Methods of purifying Water
Boiling
Filtering
Distilling
Chlorinating
Boiling
• The general advice is to boil all water for 5-10 minutes plus 1 minute for every
300m above sea level, up to around 5500m where boiling becomes ineffective.
Filtering
• Some home water filtration systems can remove chemical contaminants for
example, but fail to effectively remove microbiological ones (bacteria) from your
water supply. Therefore, these are not "purifiers" in the true sense of the word.
Distilling
• Of all the methods of water purification and filtration, distillation is considered in
some quarters to be the best.
• It removes the widest variety of contaminants such as salts, chemicals, bacteria
and other micro-organisms from your water supply.
Chlorinating
• Super-chlorination. This uses a high dose of chlorine but later neutralizes it using
hydrogen peroxide, and is very effective.
Proposed Setup

The proposed method of water purification is little bit different than other methods.
In this type of method only Bio technology based concept will be implement. This
work is mainly focusing through economical advantage to the society.

The proposed method of water purification is pointed out using the flow chart
below.
BLOCK DIAGRAM
DESIGN
MESH FILTER

• A mesh is a barrier made of connected strands of metal, fiber, or other flexible or

ductile materials. A mesh is similar to a web or a net in that it has many attached or
woven strands.
ACTIVATED CARBON

Granular activated carbon (GAC) is commonly used for removing organic

constituents and residual disinfectants in water supplies. This not only
improves taste and minimizes health hazards; it protects other water
treatment units such as reverse osmosis membranes and ion exchange
resins from possible damage due to oxidation or organic fouling. Activated
carbon is a favored water treatment technique because of its
multifunctional nature and the fact that it adds nothing detrimental to the
treated water.

Most activated carbons are made from raw materials such as nutshells,
wood, coal and petroleum.
CHLORINATION

Water chlorination is the process of adding chlorine or hypochlorite to

water. This method is used to kill certain bacteria and other microbes in tap
water as chlorine is highly toxic. In particular, chlorination is used to
prevent the spread of waterborne diseases  such as cholera, dysentery and
typhoid.
WATER DISPENSER
• In this work both hot water and normal waters
are separately dispense from the setup.
• After purifying the water the water is heated
by using heater and dispense through
separate tank.
• Also normal water is dispense from the parent
tank.
ADVANTAGES
• Ease of Fabrication
• Low Cost
• Environmental Friendly
• The amount of water wasting during the filtration process is reduced by 50% when
compared with reverse osmosis method.
CONCLUSION

Based on the above information we are going to fabricate a

new type water purification setup.
