RELATION
It is a set of ordered pairs.

FUNCTION
It is a relation in which each element of the
domain corresponds to exactly one element of the
range.
Functions can be represented in different ways
x -2 -1 0 1 2
1. a table of values. y -10 -7 -4 -1 -2

2. ordered pairs. {(-2, 10), (-1, -7), (0, -4)}.

3. graphs, and.
4. an equation
y = 4x -2.
Example:
Which of the following relations are functions?

𝑓 ={ ( 1 ,2 ) , ( 2 , 2 ) , ( 3 ,5 ) , ( 4 , 5 ) }

𝑔={ (1 , 3 ) , ( 1 , 4 ) , ( 2 , 5 ) , ( 2 , 6 ) ,(3 , 7)}

h={( 1 , 3 ) , ( 2 ,6 ) , ( 3 , 9 ) , … . ( 𝑛 , 3 𝑛 ) , … .. }
