Guidelines in Writing the
Abstract
1. Before writing the
abstract, the researcher
must review thoroughly
the entire research
paper, and choose
carefully the most
important contents of
the paper.
2. The abstract should be
more concise and a lot
shorter than chapter V.
Preferably, it should be
no longer than 2-3
pages for short
abstracts. Along
abstract takes 4-5 pages
but the short abstract is
the usually preferred
one.
3. The abstract should first
state the title of the
study, followed by the
researcher(s)’s names
before the main
highlights of the
research are presented.
At the top of the page,
the word ABSTRACT, all
in CAPITAL letters,
appears before the title.
4. Conciseness must be the
main consideration in
writing the abstract,
without sacrificing the
most essential contents of
the paper.
5. Sentences should be
simple, straightforward
and direct to the point to
produce brevity.
6. Citations or references as
well as tables and other
figures are excluded from
the abstract.
Hope you learned many skills
from this lesson.. Good day
and God bless!
