Unlocking difficulties

MATTER  anything that has mass and takes up

space. The amount of matter in an object is its mass.
Unlocking difficulties

MOMENTUM is how we measure mass that is in

motion. Any moving object will have momentum.
Under the law of physics, the object's momentum
equals mass times velocity.
Unlocking difficulties

INERTIA the tendency of the motion of an object to

remain constant in terms of both speed and direction.

Unlocking difficulties

DISTANCE is the measure of “how much

ground an object has covered during its
motion”
Unlocking difficulties

FRICTION is the force that opposes motion

between any surfaces that are in contact. There
are four types of friction: static, sliding, rolling,
and fluid friction (Air/Viscous friction). Static,
sliding, and rolling friction occur between solid
surfaces. Fluid friction occurs in liquids and gases.
Static Friction.
Unlocking difficulties

PULL that force which tends to 'move the

object towards' the direction of the force applied.
Unlocking difficulties

SPRING SCALE
a scale in which the weight indications depend
upon the change of shape or of dimensions of an
elastic body or system of such bodies.
Unlocking difficulties

GRAVITY is the force of attraction between two

objects.
It is what makes things fall and what keeps us from
floating off into space.

Gravity is a fundamental force of nature.

Unlocking difficulties
SPEED is the measure of how fast something is
moving.

The distance over time.

TIME
Computed thru distance over speed.

d

Unlocking difficulties
VELOCITY
The speed and direction motion of an
object. It is computed through
displacement over time
d

Unlocking difficulties
ACCELERATION
The rate of change in velocity in a given
time or elapsed time. It can be computed
thru change in velocity over elapsed
time.
v

Unlocking difficulties
DISPLACEMENT
Change in position of an object with
respect to its direction.
It can be computed thru velocity times
time.
d=vxt
Unlocking difficulties
SCALAR Examples
It is a quantity that Time, Distance, Mass
is fully described by Area, Density , Speed
a magnitude only.
It is described by a
single number only.
Unlocking difficulties
VECTOR Examples
It is a quantity that Force, Velocity,
has both Weight ,
magnitude and Acceleration,
direction Momentum
Newton’s Second Law of Motion

THE LAW OF ACCELERATION

force = mass x acceleration

State the Second Law of Motion by completing this paragraph

Acceleration
The Law of _______________
The acceleration of an object as produced by
a net force is ( directly / inversely)
proportional to the magnitude of the net
force, in the (same / opposite) direction as
the net force, and (directly / inversely)
Proportional to the (mass/weight) of the
object.
