BACKGROUND OF
MARXISM
Marxism is a philosophy developed by Karl Marx in the second
half of the 19th century that unifies social, political, and
economic theory. It is mainly concerned with the battle between
the working class and the ownership class and favors
communism and socialism over capitalism.

The Proletariat won’t rebel because of false consciousness, and
the Bourgeoisie also control the other parts of society e.g.
education, religion, media and legal system.
BACKGROUND OF
HEGEMONY
The concept of hegemony originated in Ancient Greece, the
Italian communist Antonio Gramsci, imprisoned for much of his
life by Mussolini, took these idea further in his Prison Notebooks
with his widely influential notions of 'hegemony'. Gramsci is an
Italian Marxist philosopher and political leader.
CULTURAL HEGEMONY
Cultural hegemony refers to domination or rule maintained through
ideological or cultural mean. It is usually achieved through social
institutions, which allow those in power to strongly influence the
values, norms, ideas, expectations, worldview, and behavior of the
rest of society.
CULTURAL HEGEMONY
Cultural hegemony refers to command, or rule, which is attained
through social or ideological means. More specifically, hegemony
refers to a group of people, or collective, and their ability to hold
power over, influence the everyday thoughts, beliefs, and behavior
over social institutions.
