administration of Fidel V. Ramos
Fidel V. Ramos, the 12th president of
the Philippines (1992–1998), is
remembered for steadfastly promoting
the principles of people empowerment
and global competitiveness. Ramos
believed that Philippines could attain the
status of new industrialized country
through Science and Technology.
IN 1993
SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY AGENDA FOR NATIONAL
DEVELOPMENT (STAND) WAS ESTABLISHED.

Congress during his term,
was able
to enact laws that proved significant
in education:
1. Magna Carta for Science and Technology Personnel (Republic Act No. 8439)
-With the passing of this law, schools were becoming more modernized and updated with the addition of
High Techonology Equipment for students and the teachers were getting training programs to enhance their
capabilities.
2. Science and Technology Scholarship Law of 1994 (Republic Act No.7687)
-The government provided 3,500 scholarships for students in the profession they are taking up related to
Science and Technology.
3. Inventors and inventions Incentives Act (Republic Act No. 7459).
- This law was established inorder give incentives and rewards for people who have been influential in the
field of science and technology.

SCHOOLS BECAME MODERNIZED AND UPDATED WITH THE ADDITION OF TECHNOLOGY EQUIPMENT FOR
STUDENTS AND TEACHERS WERE ABLE TO GET TRAINING PROGRAMS TO ENHANCE THEIR CAPABILITIES.
Fidel V. Ramos directed the Department of Energy, Department of Science
and Technology and the Philippine Nuclear Research Institute to formulate a
comprehensive nuclear power program for the country.

Objectives of Nuclear Program:


1. To establish nuclear power as vial contributor to a reliable , safe ,
competitive and cost-effective energy supply.
2.To address safety environment concerns in the utilization of nuclear energy.
3. To develop other industries to support nuclear powers systemsin the long
term
4. To develop other uses of nuclear power
