GRADE 9 - CLET
PROBLEM 1:
A steel rope pinned on the
ground to support a Electric
Steel Post. The distance of the
steel pin from the steel post is
7.8 feet and the inclination of
the rope with the ground is
72°. Find the height of the
steel post and the length of
the steel rope.
Solution 1:
• Height of Steel post: x
Tan 7.8 ft.
opposite
Tan θ = x
adjacent [
7.8ft Tan 7.8 ft. ]7.8 ft.
7.8 ft. [Tan (
X = 7.8 ft.(
X = 24.01 ft.

The height of the Steel post is 24.01 feet.

Solution 2:
• Length of Steel rope:
x
hypotenuse Sec
Sec θ = 7.8 ft.
adjacent x
[
7.8ft Sec 7.8 ft. ]7.8 ft.
X = 7.8 ft. [Sec (
X = 7.8 ft.(
X = 25.24 ft.

The length of the Steel rope is 25.24 feet.

PROBLEM 2:
The distance of the
boy on the ground to the
coconut tree is 8.10 meters
and the height of the
coconut tree is 12.70

12.70 meters
meters. What is the Angle
of Elevation of the boy to
the top of the coconut tree?

8.10 meters
Solution 1:
opposite 12.70 meters
tan θ = adjacent tan x = 8.10 meters
tan x = 1.57
x = tan¯¹ (1.57)

x = 57.50520° or 57.51°

The angle of elevation is 57.51°.
