polynomials
1.) Factor all commom monomial factor first before doing
other factoring methods.

2..) If the expression is having a four terms or a polynomial, determine if two of those terms are perfect
cube binomial. Otherwise it may be factor by grouping

GENERAL
GUDELINES
IN 3.)If the expression is a binomial, it may be the difference of two squares, or a sum / difference of two
cubes. Check the given term if it applies the factoring method. If so, do the appropriate method/
technique

FACTORING

4.)If the expression contains three terms or if it is a trinomial, determine if those terms are perfect
squares. If that is the case, the expression may be a perfect square binomial. Otherwise it may be a
general form. Use hide and seek or cross product method
30 maybe written as (5) (6) or (2) (3) (5) or 2(15) each
of these are numbers, which when
multiplied produce 30 as a product are called factors of
30.
FACTORS maybe Monomials, Binomials, trinomials,
etc. ( x -2) ( x+2) = x2 – 4.
The process of breaking up a number or n algebraic
expression into its factors is called “
FACTORING”
