Earthquake - is a natural phenomenon
wherein the surface of the earth
moves or vibrates due to a sudden
release of energy that is caused by the
movement of plates.
Earthquake Hazards
Ground Shaking – the vibration of the ground where an
earthquake occurs which is usually recorded in terms of
intensity.
Earthquake Hazards
Surface Rupture – happens on areas where the fault zone
moves. To avoid risk that can be caused by surface
rupture, we should avoid building structures near the
fault lines.
Earthquake Hazards
Liquefaction – this occurs when sand or soil and
groundwater mixed during an earthquake with a
magnitude of 4.5 or higher which make the ground very
soft.

Before:
a. Learn First Aid
b. Prepare GO BAG
c. Inspect for any damages in the house and repair if
needed.
d. Participate in any activities related to earthquake

During:
a. Stay Calm
b. Bend over and hide under a sturdy table and cling
to its feet. (Duck, Cover and Hold)
c. Avoid glass windows, cupboards and heavy objects
that can fall.
d. After the quake, leave the area and go to the
evacuation area.
e. Stay away from poles, buildings, trees and areas at
risk of landslides
Earthquake Preparedness Plan/Response Plan
After:
a. Examine yourself and others for injuries. Give first
aid if needed
b. Prioritize the needs of the elderly, children,
pregnant women and the disabled.
c. If there is a threat of a tsunami on the beach,
evacuate immediately.
d. Do not return to the building without notice.
e. Check water and electricity lines.
