INTRODUCTION :
Scientific Classification

Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Actinopterygii
Order: Cypriniformes
Family: Cobitidae
Genus: Misgurnus
Species: angullicaudatus
 Temperature – 5- 25 degree C

 pH- 6.0 – 8.0 ppm

 Preferable area – muddy substrate

Introduced in Trinidad River, Mountain Province
(Ref.280). Also (Ref. 1739, 12157). This species is popularly
called yu-yu in Ifugao. It has become notably abundant after
the Japanese occupation for which reasons (probably) it has
also to be known as Japanese fish, panipis, or palispis in
some places. Yu-yu since become a major source of protein
in the region, particularly in many areas beyond the reach of
fresh fish from coast. . The demand for this organically-
grown fish has increased not only in the region but also
abroad. This fish is now being promoted in the region as a
healthy food, being 70% protein, 20% calcium and
practically no cholesterol.

PROCEDURES:

1. Select Adult Catfish

- choose catfish that are
sexually matured.
- In using fresh PG the ratio
is 1:1, 1 kilogram of donor
and 1 kilogram of fish to be
injected.
2. Collection of Pituitary Gland of MALE catfish
3. Dissolve PG to the Saline Solution
- volume of saline solution depends on the number of PG.
4. Inject 0.1 ml PG solution to the
loach in its intramuscular.
-PG solution depends on the size of the
loach to be injected.
- After injection, massage the injected area so
that the solution will be scattered.
Stock the loach for 1 night before stripping
5. Collect testes from Male loach
-male loach must be sacrificed in induce
spawning.
6. Stripping of EGGS from FEMALE loach
7. Clean the Testes 8. Macerate the testes
- remove the blood and wash it
with saline solution.
9. Combine the EGG and the macerated TESTES.
-slowly shake the petri dish so that the eggs and the testes will be mixed
properly.
10. Incubate it in the incubation tank.
- after 1 minute slowly incubate it in the incubation tank. Do not
use flow-through immediately so that the eggs will not be thrown
