ONLINE LEARNING MODALITY: ITS IMPACT TO ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF BEED STUDENTS BANGERO, CABARLES, LOBO
Background of the Study
• Online learning has become entrenched in the educational
scene. It is only expected to grow during the coming years
as more learners demand for it and as more faculty accept
it.
• Although distance education facilities access to university
courses for specific categories of the population , distance
education has been considered since its beginning as an
alternative to face-to-face learning and not as a learning
modality in its own right.
ONLINE LEARNING MODALITY: ITS IMPACT TO THE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF BEED STUDENTS BANGERO, CABARLES, LOBO
Background of the Study
• People engaged in distance learning do not have the
same constraints as those studying in face to face
settings.
• Students that have frequent contact with the university
in which they are enrolled, present a lower dropout rate.
• DepEd and CHED adopted numerous learning delivery
options such as but not limited to face-to-face, blended
learnings, distance leanings, and home-schooling and
other modes of delivery.

Statement of the Problem
1. What is the influence of online learning
modality to the academic performance of BEED
students in terms of connectivity, place of
residence and gadgets?
2. Is there a significant difference in the impact of
online learning modality to the academic
performance of BEED students?

Scope and Limitation of the Study
• It is a descriptive-quantitative design research. Descriptive
research aims to accurately and systematically describe the
impact of online learning modality to the academic
performance of the BEED students of ISAT University.

• The respondents of the study will be the one hundred

twenty-two (122) BEED students who are officially
enrolled in the ISAT University for the Second Semester of
the School Year 2022-2023.

CHAPTER 2
Review of Related Literature

• In the study conducted by Usher & Barak in 2020;

Huang in 2019, it was stated that online learning refers
to a learning environment that uses the Internet and
other technological devices and tools for synchronous
and asynchronous instructional delivery and
management of academic programs.

CHAPTER 2
Review of Related Literature
• Another study conducted by Lin in 2017, it states that when high
technology phones become well known in modern society, the
internet gets through the limitations of reality and turns into a
ubiquitous learning tool.
• As stated in Suryaman's study in 2020, it focuses into how learning
occurred at home during the pandemic. Their findings showed that
students faced many obstacles in a home learning environment,
such as lack of mastery of technology, high Internet cost, and
limited interaction/ socialization between and among students.

CHAPTER 2
Review of Related Literature
• Moore ( 1993) identified three types of interaction inherent in
effective online courses: 1.) Learner-to-learner interaction 2.) Learner-
to- instructor interaction 3.) Learner- to- content interaction
1.) Learner-to-learner interaction - collaborative interactions with
peer learners promoted higher levels of satisfaction.
2.) Learner- to- instructor interaction- the best predictor of course
satisfaction and is by far the most significant predictor of student
satisfaction in web based education.
3.) Learner- to- content interaction- interactions with academic
materials seemed to play a less significant role.

CHAPTER 2
Review of Related Literature
• This chapter discusses the related literature pertaining to the student’s
connectivity, place of residence and gadget/s. In conclusion, there has
been a great impact on the academic performance of the students when it
comes to the use of online learning modality. Technology advancements,
such as the internet, have an impact on how education is delivered around
the world. Another factor that influences students' academic achievement
in online learning is where they live, because studying from home has
several drawbacks, including a lack of technological proficiency, increase
in internet costs, and minimal interaction with classmates. Lastly, students
who have limited access to gadgets or who have an older model device
find it difficult to maintain their academic performance in an online
learning environment.

CHAPTER 3
Research Design and Methodology
Research Design
This particular study uses a descriptive research.
Descriptive research will use to analyze the
quantitative data that will result from this study.

ONLINE LEARNING MODALITY: ITS IMPACT TO ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF BEED STUDENTS BANGERO, CABARLES, LOBO
Research Participants
• The respondents of this study were one-hundred-twenty (120)
BEED students of Iloilo Science and Technology University. The
respondents were chosen using a fish bowl method. The BEED
council has four (4) year levels and three (3) sections in each year
level. The researchers will use fish bowl in every section which will
be twelve (12) fish bowls all in all. In every section, the researchers
will randomly select ten (10) students from the fish bowl. Therefore,
in every year level there will be thirty (30) respondents and will be
multiplied to four (4) year levels in order come up with one hundred
twenty (120) respondents.

Instrumentation
This study will use Likert Scale as the instrument to gather data.
The instrument is composed of three parts. Part 1 consists of a letter of
permission to the respondents, which includes the purpose of the study
and its objectives as well as informing the respondent that all of the
data will be collected will be kept confidential. This letter will be
signed by the research adviser and researchers. Part 2 consists of the
demographic profile of the respondents such as the participants’ name
(optional), sex (male/female), economic status of their parents (low
income: less than Php 10, 000; middle class: Php 11, 000-50,000; rich:
above Php 50,000), gadgets used in online class (laptop, cell phone,
tablet and net book), place of residence, and internet (globe router, sun,
sky, sim card or pldt).
ONLINE LEARNING MODALITY: ITS IMPACT TO ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF BEED STUDENTS BANGERO, CABARLES, LOBO
Instrumentation
Part 3 is the Likert-scale questionnaire containing
(30) validated questions that can be answered by
clicking the circle as their choice of answer. In each
item, only one statement question is given, the question
contains situations related on how they participate in
their classes.

Data Gathering Procedure
• Data will be gathered during the First
Semester of Academic Year 2022-2023.
• The data will be gathered through Google
Form.

Data Gathering Analysis
• The researcher will tabulate and analyze the data
gathered.
• This study will use MS Excel to find the key
contributors towards connectivity, place of
residence and gadget/s of the BEED students.
