Postulate
Learning Competency:
Proves two triangles are congruent
(M8GE-IIIg-1)
Specifically, the learner is expected to:
(1) Prove Triangle Congruence using SAS
and ASA Postulate

Drill:
Cruz Family have designated tasks in their house.
The older sister, Diane, is assigned to cook for
dinner. Her brother, Dean, is the one assigned to
clean the house and the youngest sister, Zhynne,
will wash the dishes. In addition, their parents will
buy groceries for the week. In order to finish their
tasks properly,
what should they consider before doing the
tasks?
A. C.

In cooking nilagang baka,

which of the following
ingredients should Diane B. D.
put first on the pot?

Question: Why is meat added first?

What will be the next ingredient to be added?
A.

Which of the following is B.

the correct sequence in
washing dishes should
Zhynne will consider? C.

D.

Question: Why do you think letter C is the answer?

A. C.

In cleaning the house,

which part of the house
should Dean will clean first?
B. D.

Question: Why do you think the ceiling

should be cleaned first?
In the new normal, which
of the following is the
sequence of activities
should their parents follow
in buying good in malls/ A. 2-4-1-3-5 C. 1-2-3-4-5
grocery stores?

B. 5-2-1-4-3 D. 2-4-1-3-5

Question: How did you come up with your answer?

Proving/ justifying our reasons is very essential . It is
always involve in our everyday living - from cooking to
buying our needs; from doing our household chores to
creating thins. It also allows us to reflect if we are being
reasonable or not in doing such things. Thus, it plays a
crucial role in our life.
Recall:
Direction: Given the following triangle transformation, what triangle congruence
postulates can prove that two triangles are congruent.
Are you ready?
In school, Dean and his friend, Dan were asked by their
teacher to prove if the two triangles are congruent. Which
answer is correct? Why? justify your answer.
Steps in Proving Congruence of Two Triangles
Step 1. Identify what the given are, and what is to be proved. Mark
the given information on the diagram.
Step 2. Identify the congruence theorem to be used and the
additional information needed and why.
Step 3. Write down the statements and the reasons
in a two-column proof.
Two-Column Proof
A two-column proof consists of a list of statements, and the
reasons that we know those statements are true. The
statements are listed in a column on the left, and the reasons
for which the statements can be made are listed in the right
column.
∙ The methods of mathematical proof are based on
deductive reasoning. It uses logic and statements that are
already accepted to be true, to reach conclusion.
∙ A proof is a convincing demonstration that a
mathematical statement is necessarily true.
