What is

COMMUNICATION ?
 Communication is from the Latin term
"COMMŪNICĀRE, which means "to
share" or to "divide out."

 It may also be thought to originate from


another Latin word COMMUNIS, which
roughly means "WORKING
TOGETHER."
A process by which information exchanged between
individuals through a common systems of symbols,
signs, or behavior.

Communication skills are vital to a healthy, efficient


workplace. Often categorized as a “soft skill” or
interpersonal skill, communication is the act of
sharing information from one person to another
person or group of people.

The analog communication is communication
from the sender to the receiver in the form
of an analog signal. The analog signal is a
continuous time varying signal.

Digital communication is made from two words
digital and communication. Digital refers to
the discrete time-varying signal. This includes
personal communication of information.
Types of communication
Verbal

Verbal Communication is a type of oral


communication wherein the message is
transmitted through the spoken words.
Nonverbal

Nonverbal communication is the


transmission of messages or signals through
a nonverbal platform such as eye contact,
facial expressions, gestures, posture, and
body language.
Written

Written communication is the practice of


sending messages, orders, or instructions in
writing via letters, manuals, reports,
telegrams, office memos, bulletins, and
other means.
Visual

Visual communication is the use of visual


elements to convey ideas and information
which include but are not limited to, signs,
typography, drawing, graphic design,
illustration, industrial design, advertising,
animation, and electronic resources
The Role of Media and Information in
Effective Communication
• Most households have television, cars have
radios, many take their morning coffee with a
newspaper, everybody has a smartphone, and
computers are everywhere. Indeed, the media
has become a constant in the lives of everyone.
It is not surprising that because of this, media
and information plays a vital role in effective
communication.

completion and may also be involved in the
marketing and distribution processes.

and information may have the
