About Internship

 Name of the Company –Uddhalik Consultant and Civil Engineer

 Duration Of the Internship - 1st June 2022 to 18th July 2022

 Project Name – Residential Building Construction

 Name Of Mentor- Mr. A. B. Mule

Objective Of the Internship

 To study to read various drawings available on the site.

 To study the residential building elements.

 To understand how and which materials are being used on

the site during the construction.

 To understand the responsibilities and duties handled by

the civil engineer on the site.
What is Residential Building?

 Insuch building sleeping

accommodation is provided. It includes
the living room, bed room, kitchen,
hall, toilet and bathroom. It may be
single storey building or apartment.
Safety Measures
 Safety is very important part of any work. Most accidents can be prevented by taking
simple measures or adopting proper working procedure. It is very important to discuss
issues on safety and health that should be paid attention to on construction sites for
easy reference by the workers. If we work carefully and take appropriate safety
measures, there will definitely be fewer work injuries, and sites will become a safe and
secure place to work in. it is important to educate everyone on the site regarding safety
for following purposes.

 Worker’s safety

 Construction progress

 Standard procedure

 Legal cases

 Working efficiency
Materials Used During The Construction

 Cement – OPC(Ordinary Portland Cement) Of Grade 53

 Fine and Coarse Aggregate

 Concrete – M15, M20, M25, M35

 Reinforcement- Steel Bars of Diameter 10mm, 12mm,

16mm, 20mm.
Steps Involved During Constructions

 Site Clearance

 Surveying

 Excavation

 Foundation

 Columns

 Wall Construction

 Beams

 Slabs
Site Clearance
 This is the first, and arguably the most important step when it comes to
preparing a construction site for a new project. Any steps skipped or things
missed here can cause major delays and unexpected costs if not done properly.

 Site clearance services that need to be completed at this stage include:

 Demolishing buildings

 Removing vegetation

 Removing above and underground infrastructures

 Removing any obstacles that will hinder progress (rocks, boulders etc.)
Surveying
 This is essential to the process because it is required to move forward
with the project. This is mainly due to the fact that surveying will
confirm where the structure should be built. This is often necessary
to apply for most zoning and permitting processes. This allows for the
contractor to use the surveyor’s data as markers for the location of
the construction plan. This is also helpful in indicating to the
contractor how much elevation is required.

 LEVELING:-Leveling is a branch of surveying in civil engineering to

measure levels of different points with respect to a fixed point such
as elevation of a building, height of one point from ground etc. after
the levels are taken 1then the site is being cleaned and are levelled
with respect to the points taken.
Excavation

 It is the process of moving earth, rock or other materials with

tools or machineries.
 Measures taken during excavation work

1. There should be proper timbering while excavation for

basement area.
2. Dewatering should be done before construction work
3. During rainy seasons excavation work should be avoided.
Foundation

 Footings are strips of concrete or filled concrete blocks

placed under foundation wall. The purpose of footing is to
transfer the loads safely in the ground.

 Generally, there are three types of footings provided:

1. Isolated Footing
2. Combined Footing
3. Raft Footing
Columns
 Column is a vertical member which transfers load of a structure from beam

and slab to the foundation. The effective depth of column exceeds three

times the lateral dimension. Generally, columns carry axial load in

compression.

 Columns are very important component in the structure. Failure of columns

results in the collapse of structure. The most commonly used columns during

construction are square and rectangular columns.

 Other types of columns used are circular column, these are mostly used in

piling and elevation of building.

Beam
 Beam is a type of structure used in construction and engineering to provide a safe and efficient

load path that effectively distributes weight throughout the foundation of a building. These

beams support the load by resisting being bent under the load's pressure. Beams resist this

force in a lateral way as the force is applied to the axis.

 In most situations, the load distribution pattern includes a slab, beam, column and foundation.

This means that the beam is inserted below the foundation and column to provide more

comprehensive support throughout the structure. The primary purposes of beam structure

include:

 Offsetting shear forces and/or beam momentum

 Resisting loads

 Distributing loads in a uniform fashion

 Uniting the structure together

Wall Construction

 Wall construction is done usually by brickwork with the help of

brick and mortar with the help of mason, but this method is
normally not preferable for high rise buildings in such types of
building the walls are constructed as RCC wall because it acts
as a shear wall and provide horizontal stability to building and
reduces the deflection.
Slab

 Slab is an important structural element which is constructed to create

flat and useful surfaces such as floors, roofs, and ceilings. It is a
horizontal structural component, with top and bottom surfaces
parallel or near so.

 Commonly, slabs are supported by beams, columns (concrete or

steel), walls, or the ground. The depth of a concrete slab floor is very
small compared to its span.
Equipment's Used

1. Concrete Pump

2. Rotary mixer for

transporting R.M.C

3. Crane

4. Excavator
