RATIONALE
There are many factors which affect the academic performance of a learner. It includes home, school, teacher and student
factors. The learner himself/herself is included maybe because there is something wrong with the attitude of the learner in
performing tasks in school. Or the learner does not know how to read and comprehend, understand and work with numbers as well.
Reading and understanding about what has read is very significant and a necessity in a learner’s life. Necessity because it will be the
learners’ passport to comply with other related skills like counting and solving.
With Project REMURAL, it can help lessen the growing numbers of struggling and slow readers in Grade 3.
Through Project ASEBO, it can help them improve their numeracy skills.
And with Project REMURAL and ASEBO it can help them improve their lives.
BACKGROUND
Based on the data from Phil-IRI and NuMAT, results showed that there were grade 3 learners who were academically challenge
in reading and in comprehension, and poor numeracy skills.
Hence, the birth of Project REMURAL and Project ASEBO.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
There are 23 Grade 3 pupils enrolled in S.Y. 2022-2023 who are manifested as struggling and slow readers based on the Phil-IRI
Pretest.
There are 17 Grade 3 pupils enrolled in S.Y. 2022-2023 who are non-numerates.
OBJECTIVE
To increase the reading grade level of the identified slow readers and decrease the number of struggling readers of at least 50% by
the end of the school year.
To reduce the 17 pupils identified as non-numerates in grade 3 by 80% (13 students) at the end of the school year.
