God said to Noah, “Fill the boat with animals by pair.”

So Noah called all the animals and boards them on the boat.
God said to Noah, “Get on board. Close all the hatches shut the door. The
world will be going to feel the power of the Lord.
It rained for forty days without a break and the world turned into a big
lake.

God told Noah to send raven to see if there’s a shore. But the raven did
not come back. Then he sent a dove. It came back with a leaf in his mouth.

Noah was happy for there was nowhere to land. The ark ran aground on a
mountaintop, and their adventure came to stop. He looked out and saw the land
was dry. He opened the ark’s door and let the animals in pair go.

Then, God made a promise that never again he will wash the world with
flood and rain.

The Old Man and His Sons

Folktale by Pat Nelson

There was once an old man who had many sons. They always quarreled with
one another. They quarreled over who should use the bathroom first. At meal
time, they would fight over who got to the table first. The old man had often
begged his sons to live together in peace, but without success.

One day, he called them together. He showed them a bundle of barbecue

sticks. He asked each one of them to break the bundle. Each one tried with all
his strength but the bundle did not

148
break. Then cutting the cord that bound the sticks together, the old man gave his
sons a stick each. Then he told his sons to break it. This was done with the
greatest ease. The old man exclaimed, “See, my sons, the power of unity! You
bind yourselves together with brotherly love, you can win any fight.
