A REFLECTION/JOURNAL ENTRY
Teaching is the noblest profession wherein we as teachers
must be a good example to everybody holistically. Engaging to
teaching profession requires the heart and mind to serve
students in full way, enable students to progress from the
acquisition of information to transformation of knowledge
through applying the teaching in a constructivist approach to
learning. Reasons for becoming a teacher are deeper, not only
for salaries but the engagement to the profession itself,
wherein, must be ready to face many challenges from
students, parents, colleagues and the working environment. As
a teacher, I chose the constructivism approach, wherein the
teacher has a greater role to create a collaborative
environment where students are actively involved in their own
learning, and responsible for their own output. Teachers are
the facilitators in the classroom.
Being an ICT teacher, I have learned a lot about learner-
centered teaching when it comes to different lessons, and it’s
more engaging, more fun and exciting. Students are more
attentive and can create the best output they have because it
is a learner-centered teaching that learners construct
knowledge from their own and others. Sharing their ideas
knowledge and experiences to the group, they will be able to
connect their lessons through higher order thinking skills
questions given from the teachers. Teachers must also consider
their differences of students so as their Multiple Intelligences
that students are different with each other so we must know
on how to deal with them.
Becoming an effective teacher, I must exercise and apply the
principles of constructivism to my students because I have
already seen and proven that this is one of my best strategy
when it comes to teaching. Considering the effective output
and greater learning not only by knowledge but also in real life
situations.
