RESEARCH TITLE
The objective of this quantitative study is to identify the relationship of
sleep deprivation to the academic performance of selected grade-twelve
senior high school students of Theresian School of Cavite academic
year 2020-2021
GENERAL PROBLEM
1. How many hours of sleep deprived students sleep?
2. How many grade-twelve students are sleep deprived?
3. What are the academic performances of the sleep deprived students based on a
one-month assessment?
4. What is the relationship of sleep deprivation to the student’s academic
performance?

CHAPTER V
SUMMARY, CONCLUSIONS, AND
DISCUSSIONS
Discussion
• Background & Objective of Study
• Scope and Delimitation
• Study’s Hypothesis:
Null
Alternative
• Specific Problems
• How many hours of sleep deprived students sleep?
• How many grade-twelve students are sleep deprived?
• What are the academic Performances of the deprived students based on a one-month
assessment?
• What is the relationship of sleep deprivation to the student’s academic
performance?
• Significant Relationship
Conclusion
• From the previous literatures and studies proving that sleep
deprivation negatively affects the academic performance, the
recent study’s results quite had the same. The data showed
that there is a significant relationship between the sleep
deprivation and academic performance of grade-twelve senior
high school students with a weak correlation status. This
implied that the research study accepted the alternative
hypothesis and rejected the null hypothesis.
• As per strand, the analyzed data for ABM and HUMSS strand
accepted the research study’s alternative hypothesis and
rejected the null hypothesis. Meanwhile the STEM and ICT
strand accepted the null hypothesis and rejected the
alternative hypothesis of the research study.
Conclusion
• Meanwhile, results from the sleep deprivation questionnaires
to gathered academic performance in the different strand
showed variety of results whether sleep deprived students
got a low academic performance, performed well, or performed
excellently though sleep deprived.
• Though this, the implication of the findings on the research
study may be used to raise awareness to the negative effect
of sleep deprivation to the academic performance of the
students.

ALTERNATIVE HYPOTHESIS
Limitation
• Difficulties in distributing survey questionnaire
• Respondents Participation
• Access to data regarding academic performance
Recommendation
• Additional number in participants for better and more
accurate results
• Wide range of scope and delimitations for better and
more accurate results
• Separating male and female student participants to
differentiate their sleep deprivation result.
• Conduct the research study using another research
instrument instead of a survey questionnaire, or adopt
a different questionnaire that is more recent,
standardized, and reliable.
