SPS | Overview

Purpose

SPS – Seniority Point System is a Siemens approved model (for one-time use only) that aims at identifying senior and
expert calibers within O&M Egypt. This model clearly and visibly describes the seniority requirement using three main metric
scale – as follows:

1. actual years of industry exposure; Criteria Factor Points Min Max Bonus
2. performance evaluations; Relevant industry exposure Every year 10 50 100
3. technical competency level; Technical competency level 5 - Expert 100 Minimum 75 points 25 Points
(detailed in the competency 4 - Proficient 75 for Senior role, and Expert
cataloug in this document) 3 - Demonstrating 50 100 points for
2 - Basic 25 Expert role.

1. What is the point
system - SPS?
SPS is a 300 points system model developed by
Siemens to define seniority level on the
technical roles to help determine the individual
value at work.

2. What is the expected
outcome of this system?

The expected outcome of SPS is that the


company will be able to identify colleagues of
senior and expert knowledge on their field of
work for multiple future uses.

Knowing your seniority level via SPS can make

unique professional value, and make you
properly recognized for the value you are
capable to offer.

4. Is this a promotion?
This exercise is meant to place colleagues of
senior value on the right position levels and the
exercise will include providing Senior or Expert
grades to the entitled colleagues.

This is not a promotion into higher positions


but rather placing you on the right grade within
your position.

5. Will my title change?
Absolutely yes, successful candidates will earn
a title of senior or even higher in recognition to
their grade.

6. How SPS defines my
seniority?
SPS defines your seniority via 3 different
scales:

1) Relevant industry exposure


2) Technical competency level
3) Performance rating in 2019

7. Is there minimum requirement
to use SPS?

Yes, you have to have at least 5 years of


experience by Sep 30, 2019. You also need to
be achieving (3 – Met) on your performance
rating for 2019.

8. How do I calculate
my points?
If you have met the minimum requirements, use
the mini calculator to ensure that you are
preliminary capable of achieving a fit score of
300 points.

Senior level require a competency level 4, and


Expert level requires a competency level 5.

9. How the competency level
is assessed?
Technical competency level is assessed by
panel assessments that will be conducted by the
station from 1st to 5th of Dec.

You will need to prove your competency level


to the panel members by using the Individual
Presentation Template.

10. How the skill assessment
will go?
You will be given 45 minutes to prove your
competency level to the assessment panel using
the designated template.

Within those minutes, you need to demonstrate


the core competencies level you are applying
for that is identified for each position later in
document.

11. What will I need to cover
during this assessment?

All down to you, however, w recommend that


you use the time wisely to demonstrate the core
competencies by reflecting on past experiences,
heroic jobs you have done, in-depth theoretical
and practical understanding. And you problem
solving capabilities.

12. Will I be asked questions
during this assessment?

Yes, the assessment panel will ask strong


questions in the area you present and within the
expected core competencies that you say you
have.
