Selection criteria
• Travelers interested to witness cultural life of the people of Bali.

• Thus the site was chosen not for proximity to beach but for cultural diversity of Ubud, Bali.

• Traditionally designed village resort

• The name ‘Amandari’ means peace and heavenly being which has been implemented in the design.

Design philosophy and Concept
• To be the best high end option for leisure travelers.

• With sensible development, growth and nurturing the most authentic and exquisite resort experience in Bali.

• A lifestyle experience without limitations.

CONCEPT –

• Ar. Peter Muler wanted to go beyond the concept of individual bungalows and design a hotel village with wall lined
streets .

• Used local materials and local labors.

• Consideration for the physical aspects of the site and nearby village of Kedawatan had a strong influence on the
scheme.

• He wanted the hotel village to melt into the landscape like other villages.

Context and its Impact

• The site itself had series of rice terraces,

• Ar.Peter has used the terraces to give the impression that the building rise from the lower rice terrace.

• Building form organized on the hillock.

• Amadari melts into the landscape like another village.

• Center to the reception area is the original sacred stone that lies in the valley below the resort

• Integrated multiple local design in the resort design

• Use of local materials and design style

• Privacy between each villa

• Different typologies according to user requirement

• Utilizing the contour efficiently

• Emphasized on the view for each villa

• Integrating multiple activities within the resort to spread local culture like dance, live cooking, rice terrace
cultivation , etc.
