Selection criteria
• Travelers interested to witness cultural life of the people of Bali.
• Thus the site was chosen not for proximity to beach but for cultural diversity of Ubud, Bali.
• The name ‘Amandari’ means peace and heavenly being which has been implemented in the design.

Design philosophy and Concept
• To be the best high end option for leisure travelers.
• With sensible development, growth and nurturing the most authentic and exquisite resort experience in Bali.
CONCEPT –
• Ar. Peter Muler wanted to go beyond the concept of individual bungalows and design a hotel village with wall lined
streets .
• Consideration for the physical aspects of the site and nearby village of Kedawatan had a strong influence on the
scheme.
• He wanted the hotel village to melt into the landscape like other villages.

Salient features
• Amandari is styled after a Balinese village and features walkways, shrines, gardens and high pardas stone walls.
• Movement through the spaces and the views are very carefully considered.
• Traditional Balinese village setting, Architecture of the suites, layout and design to experience real life in Bali.
• Center to the reception area is the original sacred stone that lies in the valley below the resort
• Stone panels carved with artistic precision by local artisan decorate Amandari’s local walls.
• Main attraction is the infinity pool overlooking the rice terraces which utilizes the terraces.

Statistics
• The indoor of suites used locally sourced teak wood, rattan, bamboos and coconut trunks.
• When the sun is up the open air rooms are drenched with golden sunlight the warms the interior.
• Teak and coconut trunks used with carvings done by local artisans.

Design inference
• The resort is a cultural center where a traveler can experience the culture of Bali
• Integrating multiple activities within the resort to spread local culture like dance, live cooking, rice terrace
cultivation , etc.
