Let’s study and answer.
Maria draw letter L in her art class. She wants to know the area of the letter to paint the letter. Can you help her find the letter?
Looking at the shape of L how will you find its area?
In how many ways can you find its area?
Area of irregular figures can be determined by dividing the figure into squares and rectangles.
To find the area of a figure which is a combination of rectangles and squares, we find the area of
each figure separately and then add them to find the total area.
There are two rectangles formed labeled A and B.
Find the area of the individual shapes

RECTANGLE A = l x w
= 4X7
= 28
Find the area of the individual shapes

RECTANGLE B = l x w
= 12 X 20
= 240
Add the answer

Area of Rectangle A =28

Area of Rectangle B =240
Total =268
Find the area of the given shape
Let’s Apply!
Calculate the area of the following shapes.
1. 2.
3. 4.
Let’s Study!
AREA OF TRIANGLE
A triangle is a two dimensional shape with three sides and three angles.

To find the area of triangle you take one half of its base multiply to its height.
Let’s Answer!
AREA OF PARALLELOGRAM
A parallelogram is a four-sided, two dimensional shape in which opposite sides are parallel and have equal length.

To find the area of a parallelogram you simply multiply the base times the height.
Let’s Apply
AREA OF TRAPEZOID
A trapezoid is a four sided, two dimensional shape with two parallel sides. Also known as trapezium.

To find the area of a trapezoid you multiply one half times the sum of the base times the height.
Let’s Solve!
