Area of a Rectangle Formula

Area of a Rectangle Formula Geometry is a collection of several types of shapes and figures that are used for accomplishing the various types of tasks, which are related to our daily routine life. According to the Euclidean geometry, a rectangle is any quadrilateral that contains the four right angles. In the mathematical term, the rectangle can be called as equiangular quadrilateral. It can also be defined as a parallelogram containing right angles. The word rectangle comes from the Latin word rectangulas which is a combination of two words that is s rectus and angulus. Here the word rectus refers to right and the angulus refers to angle. A rectangle is a type of quadrilateral which contains the two opposite sides of a rectangle along with two diagonals. In simple terms we can say that the rectangle is the geometrical shape which is similar to the shape of square. It is most commonly known as quadrilateral. It is defined as having four interior angles of 900. Rectangle is shape whose opposite sides are similar to each other. Rectangle is a different of type of shape that can be recognized by properties.

Opposite sides of the rectangle are parallel and congruent. The diagonals of the rectangles are bisecting to each other. The diagonals of the rectangles are congruent.

A rectangle is a geometrical shape that has four equal sides. So, it is obvious that rectangle contains its own surface area. In mathematics there is a formula provided for calculating the area of rectangle. This formula is known as Area of a Rectangle Formula. As we know that the opposite sides of the rectangle is equals to each other. So we differentiate the sides of the rectangle into two types that is length and breadth. These two sides play their measure role in calculating the area of rectangle. In general we can say that the area of rectangle is equals to its length multiplied by its width. It means that: Area of rectangle = Length * Breath. In general notation area of rectangle is denoted by the symbol A, the Length of rectangle is denoted by the symbol L and the breath of rectangle is denoted by the symbol B. So we can write as: A = L. B, Now we show you the some of the example that helps in understanding the concept of calculating the area of rectangle. Example: Find the area of rectangle which has the length of the side is 20m and the breath of the side is 10m?

Solution: In the above question given that the length of rectangle is 20m and the breadth of the rectangle is 10 m. So we solve this problem by applying the area of rectangle: Area of rectangle = Length * Breathe, A = L * B, A = 20 * 10, A = 200m2. In the above we can see that the area of rectangle can easily be calculated by using the formula of rectangle. In the above we the power of two with the 200m2.This is done because in the formula two values of meter are multiplied to each other.
