The document discusses artificial intelligence in India and its impact on privacy. It analyzes data protection laws and examines challenges to privacy from AI in domains like healthcare and smart devices. The document recommends the government establish an independent statutory authority and multi-stakeholder body to regulate AI based on risk categories and principles of responsible AI. Privacy is important for ethical technology development and use, though the right to privacy is not absolute. Government regulation can balance technological progress with safe and fair development and use of AI.

Recommendations” PREPARED BY GAURY SINGH OBJECTIVES
• To analyze existing data protection laws and regulations
worldwide, focusing on their effectiveness in addressing privacy concerns related to AI technologies • To investigate the impact of AI technologies on user privacy in specific domains such as healthcare, finance, or smart devices, examining unique challenges and privacy considerations relevant to each domain. Insurgence of Artificial intelligence in Digital Era
• The roots of AI in India can be traced back to the early 1960s
when pioneering work in computer science and mathematics laid the foundation for AI research. It is only after the internet became popular in India AI in Indian Industries • Manufacturing and Automation • Healthcare • Education • Agriculture AI and Digital Privacy Norms: Issues and Challenges
• ‘AI’ is used as an umbrella term to describe a collection of
related techniques and technologies including machine learning, predictive analytics, natural language processing and robotics. • One of the characteristics of AI is that once the technology works, it stops being referred to as AI and transforms into mainstream computing • From generative AI that can create any content using a simple prompt to smart home devices that learn our habits and preferences, AI has the potential to revolutionise the way we interact with technology. How AI is affecting our privacy • Today, privacy is more important than ever as the amount of personal data collected and analyzed continues to grow. • Article 21 and as part of the freedoms guaranteed by Part III of the Constitution. • The right to privacy is not an absolute right, but it can be subject to reasonable restrictions in the interests of sovereignty and integrity • AI is affecting one’s privacy in a number of way- • Data Exploitation • Voice and Facial Recognition • Prediction • Identification and Tracking Policy Recommendations
The Authority recommends that for ensuring development of
responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI) in India, there is an urgent need to adopt a regulatory framework by the Government that should be applicable across sectors The Authority recommends that the broad tenets of the suggested regulatory framework should comprise of: a. An independent statutory authority. b. A Multi Stakeholder Body (MSB) that will act as an advisory body to the proposed statutory authority. c. Categorizations of the AI use cases based on their risk and regulating them according to broad principles of Responsible AI. Conclusion
• AI is used in many fields like transport, health, education etc.
• Privacy provides an important framework for making ethical choices about how we develop, use and regulate new technologies • technologies could be misused by individuals, businesses, government and non-government agencies. • Government has an important role to play in creating an environment in which a commitment to developing safe and fair AI can be balanced with technological progress. • I strongly believe that in order to obtain optimum results all process need to include some sort of human intervention.
