Cấu trúc (S+V)

• A. Khẳng định.
S+tobe (am/is/are)...
S+V(s/es)...
- Chủ ngữ số ít (she, he, it),không đếm được + is, số nhiều(we, they) + are ngoại trừ i, you.
She is a student. They are students
- Chủ ngữ số nhiều V(nguyên thể).
They go to school together.
- Chủ ngữ số ít, không đếm được V(s/es), es khi động từ tận cùng: o, s, x, z, ch, sh.
She walks to school every morning. Water helps keep animals alive.
- Động từ tận cùng là : phụ âm+y, thì biến y i +es.
She studies english every day.

- Tóm lại: ít thì thêm, nhiều thì thôi.

Cách dùng(dùng ở hiện tại)
• A. Thói quen hoặc hành động lặp đi lặp lại ở hiện tại.
Để mô tả tần suất lặp lại, chúng ta có các trạng từ: (đứng giữa S và V.)
-Always > usually > frequently > often > sometimes > occasionally > seldom > rarely > never.
-Every day / week / month...; once a week, twice a week / month...(đứng đầu hoặc cuối câu)
I get up early every day.
Mary usually goes to school by bus.

• B. Chân lý, sự thật hiển nhiên.


The sun rises in the East and sets in the West.
Rice doesn’t grow in cold climates.
The world is round.

• C. Nhận thức, cảm giác hoặc tình trạng ở hiện tại.


We see a man in the office.
I smell something burning.
An works in the post office.

• D. Lịch trình, thời gian biểu cố định.


The train leaves HN at 11.30.

• Tobe có thể coi như trợ động từ.
• ít thì thêm, nhiều thì thôi - ít thì is, nhiều thì are
• Phủ định: thêm not sau trợ động từ.
• Hỏi: đảo trợ động từ lên trước chủ ngữ.
