• It derives from 2 words: “Resilience” and “National”
• Resilience means endurance, being strong in order to face the suffering, having self-control, determination, and patience. • National means people in specific area that have their own government. It also means unity in their interests. • There are 2 main perspectives: 1) National Resilience as a condition 2) National Resilience as a concept • A resilient nation: all elements of its resilience are able to overcome every Threats, Disturbances, Obstacles and Challenges (AGHT) • A weak nation: it is unable to overcome the existing AGHT. The elements of Indonesian National Resilience is called Astagatra.
Astagatra is divided into Trigatra and Pancagatra.
• Trigatra consists of Geographical Location, Nation’s Natural Resources, and Population • Astagatra consists of Ideology, Politic, Economy, Socio-cultural, and Defense-security Threats, Disturbance, Obstacles, and Challenges (AGHT) Managing and improving National Resilience is needed to overcome AGHT. Threat refers to things that endanger nation – state sustainability Threat can be divided into three classification: Military Threat, Non- Military Threat, and Hybrid Threats. There are two types of threats: Real threats and Perceived Threats • Real Threats: radicalism, terrorism, separatism, natural disasters, etc • Perceived Threats: conventional war National Resilience Strategy in Digital Era State Defense and National Insights State Defense can be understood as an orderly, comprehensive, integrated, and sustainable desire, attitude, and citizen actions based on the love for the homeland, Indonesia Nation-state Awareness, and Belief in the power of Pancasila as the state ideology. This includes willingness to sacrifice or eliminate any threats which come from inside and outside which may endanger Indonesian independence, sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, jurisdiction, as well as the values of Pancasila and 1945 constitution. National Insight can be understood as perspective of Indonesian people with regard to themselves and their environment which prioritizes regional unity and integrity within the implementation of nation-state social life. Conclusion In digital era, AGHT is closely related to rapid flow of information. Uncontrollable flow of information will have negative impacts that can weaken nation’s personality. In order to avoid that, state defense and national insight are considered as the most suitable strategy to overcome threats that come along in digital era in the form of new values and cultures
