It essentially states that for any set A and any property P(x), there exist a set B such
that for every element x, x is an element of A and P(x) is true.
Imagine you have an existing set A that contains the numbers from 1 to 10:
A = {1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10}
Now let’s say we want to create a new set B using the Class Construction Axiom. We
want B to contain only the even numbers from set A. The property P(x) in this case is “x
is an even number”.
B = {x ∈ A l x is even}
Here’s how it works:
1. We consider each element x in set A.
2. For each x, we check if x satisfies the property “x is even”. If it does, we include it in
set B.
3. After applying this process to all elements of A, we obtain set B as follows:
B = {x ∈ A l x is even} or
B = {2,4,6,8,10}
So using, the Class Construction Axiom, we have constructed a new set B that contains
only the even numbers from the original set A. This clearly illustrates how the axiom
allows us to form subsets based on specific properties.
