both online or offline.

Understand that technology has dissolved


boundaries between all the world’s people.
We now communicate, collaborate and celebrate
across all levels of society.
This leads to cultivating understanding,
acceptance, compassion and humility.
Digital Citizenship

 Covers appropriate and exemplary behavior in our online


environments.
 It’s
about working towards making our transparent digital
world safe for ourselves and others.
ALTRUISTIC SERVICE

 Altruism defined as “having a selfless concern for the well-being of others”.

 The global digital citizens acknowledge that they share this world with many
different people.

 Include embracing the opportunity to exercise charity and goodwill for the
benefits of others.
ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP

 This practice is all about common-sense values and an appreciation


for the beauty and majesty that surround us every day.

 Encourages every student a take a positive stand on personal, local,


regional, national and international actions regarding the
preservation of what is essentially our “environmental community”.
WHY DO WE NEED TO BE GLOBAL
DIGITAL CITIZENS?
 PERSONALLY- we face the daily possibility of online fraud, identity theft, and online bullying.

 GLOBALLY- even as technologically intertwined as we are, there is also a level of disconnection in


our lives.

 ALTRUISTICALLY- we have more means to help others.

 ENVIRONMENTALLY- we continue to face growing threats such as climate change, resource


depletion, industrial pollution, digital pollution and more.

9 ELEMEMTS OF DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP
 DigitalCitizenship id more than just a teaching tool; it is a way to
prepare students/technology users for a society full of technology.
DIGITAL ACCESS
 the ability to fully participate in digital society. This
includes access to tools and technologies, such as the
Internet and computers, that allow for full participation.
Unfortunately, not everyone has complete digital access
and therefore, are not able to fully participate in digital
society.
DIGITAL COMMERCE

 Digitalcommerce is the process of buying things online


without human intervention. The difference is subtle, but if
Commerce were to be fully automated, right from
marketing and sales to product delivery, it would be digital
commerce. While full automation does seem like a stretch,
some of the largest retail conglomerates in the world are
already implementing this system.
DIGITAL COMMUNICATION

 Digitalcommunication is the electronic exchange of


information, data, or messages. It takes many forms and
has become the communication standard for individuals
and organizations over the past few decades. When you
send an email, text a friend, or post on social media, you're
using digital communication
DIGITAL LITERACY

 Digital literacy means having the skills you need to


live, learn, and work in a society where
communication and access to information is
increasingly through digital technologies like
internet platforms, social media, and mobile
devices.
DIGITAL ETIQUETTE

 Digital etiquette is the basic rules of conduct users of


technology should follow in order to be responsible
citizens online. We should all use good manners which
include using appropriate behavior and making good
choices when we are in the digital world.
DIGITAL LAW

 Digital law is defined as electronic responsibility for


actions and deeds. In other words, digital law refers to
what you are and are not allowed to do while using the
Internet. Ethical use encompasses all activities on the
Internet that abide by the laws of society.
DIGITAL RIGHTS AND
RESPONSIBILITIES
 Digital Rights and Responsibilities are the "privileges and
freedom extended to all digital technology users, and the
behavioral expectations that come with them" (Ribble & Bailey,
2007). In other words, your students have the privilege and
freedom to engage in technology use during school as well as at
home. However, there are expectations that accompany the
privileges and freedom to use technology. Students must act
responsibly as they participate in the digital world.
DIGITAL WELLNESS
 Digital wellness (also known as digital
wellbeing or digital health) is the pursuit of an
intentional and healthy relationship with
technology, both in the workplace and in
personal life. With many jobs and everyday
activities relying on the internet and digital
devices, the goal of digital wellness is to
promote healthy use habits and assist the user
in maintaining a healthy lifestyle in their daily
life.
DIGITAL SECURITY

 Digital security is the collective term that describes the


resources employed to protect your online identity, data,
and other assets. These tools include web services,
antivirus software, smartphone SIM cards, biometrics, and
secured personal devices.
