Definition
The passive voice is used to show interest in the
person or object that experiences an action rather than
the person or object that performs the action. In other
words, the most important thing or person becomes
the subject of the sentence
Forming Passive Voice

'to be' + past participle (V3)


Simple Present Tense
Active Voice
S + V1 (+S/es) + O

Example:
1. Ms. Septi eats the orange.

Passive Voice
S + to be (am/is/are) + V3 + (by + O/Pronoun)
Example:
1. The orange is eaten (by Ms. Septi).
2. The oranges are eaten (by Ms. Septi).

Active Voice
S + V2 + O

Example:
1. Ms. Septi ate the orange.

Passive Voice
S + to be (was/were) + V3 + (by + O/Pronoun)
Example:
1. The orange was eaten (by Ms. Septi).

Present Continuous Tense
Active Voice
S + to be (is/am/are) + V-ing + O
Example:
1. Ms. Septi is eating the orange.

Example:
1. The orange is being eaten (by Ms. Septi).
2. The oranges are being eaten (by Ms. Septi).
Past Continuous Tense

S + to be (was/were) + V-ing + O
Example:

Example:

Example:
