CE-462: Disaster Mitigation & Earthquake Engineering

Verticals of Disaster Management
1. Understanding the 2. Capacity Building 3. Response and Rescue 4. Built Back Better
Risk
• Reconstruction
Degree of risk and Prevent the disaster Start rescue and recovery
• Rehabiliation
vulnberability of a given Strengthening infrastructure process
hazard at a given site to withstand the disaster
Temporary Shelters

Our Focus would be
1. Understanding the 2. Structural Dynamics 3. Lesson Learnt from 4. Disaster Management
Risk and Earthquake past disasters and Planning
Resistance Design
1. Disasters and their Four stages of disaster
classification We always need a disaster management
• Single Degree and multi
2. Understand risk and to learn from. • Understand the risk
degree freedom of
vulnerability of each • Capacity Building
system
disaster • Rescue and Recovery
• performance of buildings
• Build back better
• Earthquake Resistant
